Sixteen incidents involving abuse or aggression towards staff have been recorded so far.
That includes an assault on a bus driver by three youths, with one allegedly trying to gouge out the 69-year-old's eye.
Mayor Phil Goff says it's appalling someone should be attacked while doing their job as an essential worker.

AT's Chief Executive Shane Ellison says it's a disgrace to see an increase in this behaviour.
