A call for an investment into transport in Auckland to be matched with policy
A call for an investment into transport in Auckland to be matched with policy
8 September 2021
The Government's announced a nearly 25-billion dollar transport plan for the next three years -- with 7.3-billion for Auckland.
It focuses largely on road safety, maintenance and bolstering public transport.
Auckland Business Forum says the spending won't address congestion - and wants balanced investment in new roading projects.
Coordinator Barney Irvine says they're also keen for progress on legislation to charge motorists driving in high-congestion areas.
He says it has the potential to be a game changer for Auckland - and can be put in place relatively quickly and affordably.
