A world record could be smashed right now, as up to two million people speak Te Reo Maori simultaneously

As part of Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori - Maori Language Week - people are speaking or listening to the language, or participating in an activity at midday.

Maori Language Commissioner, Rawinia Higgins, says the aim is to set a record for 'most people speaking an endangered indigenous language at the same time'.

She says the Guinness Book of Records has been approached.
