Auckland Police have taken a man into custody after a violent incident at Grey Lynn

Officers were involved in a stand-off with a man who'd threatened neighbours and staff at a family harm centre

As they tried to talk to the man, a knife was thrown, which shattered glass leaving an officer with facial injuries.

After an hour police entered the property, at which time a hammer was thrown at them.

A police dog and tasers were used to subdue the man, who was injured in the incident.
