Pasifika doctors are working to help the community through Covid-19

Pasifika doctors are working to help the community through Covid-19

The Delta outbreak has hit the Pasifika community hard.

About half the outbreak's cases are Pasifika people.

The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioner's Pasifika Chapter has been working to support affected people.

College president Dr Samantha Murton says Pasifika GPs have been able to speak to those in MIQ in their first languages.

Dr Murton says when people can speak directly to their doctor without an interpreter it makes a difference to how they feel about the knowledge and treatment they receive.
