People are being reminded to keep hazardous materials out of recycling trucks after a truck caught fire
15 October 2021
The fire happened as the truck was collecting rubbish in Glendene, in Auckland, and was eventually put out by Fire and Emergency staff.
The recycling then had to be sent to a landfill.
Recycling fires have been on the rise in recent years, with the main culprits being lithium batteries, gas canisters and electronics.
