More locations of interest are expected after Covid-19 appeared in the South Island

A person possibly linked to the Te Awamutu cluster flew from Rotorua to Blenheim on Thursday - and tested positive for the virus the next day.

All Blenheim residents - especially those in the township - are advised to closely monitor for Covid-19 symptoms and get tested if feeling sick.

Locations of interest include Rotorua and Wellington Airport and a flight from Rotorua to Wellington and another flight to Blenheim.

Rotorua Mayor Steve Chadwick says she was contacted by the airport about the potential exposure immediately.

She says it's understood the infection is a weak positive, and the airport will be taking all safety precautions.

There were 104 new community cases yesterday.
