Australia have edged South Africa to claim a tight five-wicket win in their Twenty20 cricket World Cup opener in Abu Dhabi

The Proteas limped to 118 for nine, which Australia made hard work of chasing, winning with just two balls to spare.

Marcus Stoinis on 24 and Matthew Wade 15 finished unbeaten at the crease, helping Australia post 121 for five.

England have defeated the West Indies by six wickets in Dubai.

Needing 56 for victory, Jos Buttler led the way for the English with an unbeaten 24, as they finished 56 for four in 8.2 overs.
