The Coroner's investigating whether the death of Maori All Blacks and Chiefs Super Rugby player Sean Wainui may have been a suicide

The Coroner's investigating whether the death of Maori All Blacks and Chiefs Super Rugby player Sean Wainui may have been a suicide

The 25-year-old died last Monday in a car crash at Tauranga's McLaren Falls Park, in the Bay of Plenty.

He was farewelled on Sunday at Gisborne's Te Wainui Marae.

Coroner Louella Dunn says it's being treated as a suspected suicide.

She's made interim suppression orders around the circumstances - meaning further details can't be published at this stage.

If you are worried about your mental health or someone else's - the best place to get help is your GP or local mental health provider.

If you or someone else is in danger or endangering others, call police immediately on 111.
