    Suggestions that home ownership is beyond the reach for many


    BNZ is introducing a six time debt-to-income ratio ... meaning the average 800-thousand dollar loan, would require an income of around 130-thousand dollars to gain approval.

    National's Housing spokesperson Nicola Willis says combined with soaring house prices, things are going from bad to worse.

    She says the tougher lending restrictions is just another blow...and makes getting into a first home similar to climbing an incredibly steep mountain.
