A Tauranga man has been charged over a protest against Covid restrictions

A Tauranga man has been charged over a protest against Covid restrictions

The 43-year-old has been arrested, in relation to a recent protest at Coronation Park in Mt Maunganui that breached Covid restrictions.

Police claim up to 400 people attended the gathering, with the majority not wearing masks.

The man is due to appear in court next Thursday, and Police aren't ruling out laying further charges.

Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki remains on bail, following his involvement in a related protest in Auckland the same day.
