RNZ reports Brenton Tarrant claims he admitted his crimes after 'inhumane and degrading' treatment on remand.
He pleaded guilty to planning and carrying out the 2019 massacre, and was convicted to life in jail without the possibility of parole.
He's apparently now considering appealing the sentence - under advice from human rights lawyer, Tony Ellis.
Tarrant's engaged Ellis for a coronial inquiry into New Zealand's worst mass shooting.
Ellis has been instructed by his client not to speak to any media, other than Stuff, and RNZ.
