It comes after a six-month-long investigation into a sophisticated drug dealing and smuggling operation.
Eleven men aged between 27 and 56, and a 25-year-old woman are set to appear in the Whangarei District court today .
The operation dates back to when Customs intercepted a number of drug packages destined for Northland between March 2020 and June this year.
Detective Inspector Bridget Doell says the investigation identified an alleged criminal syndicate based in Ruakaka.
She says the key leaders were in the Headhunters Motorcycle Gang and Mongrel Mob organised criminal group.
