Leaders of some of the world's largest economies have agreed to halt fossil fuel subsidies

The agreement was reached during the Apec Economic Leaders' Summit overnight, hosted by New Zealand.
Leaders of the 21 countries - including Xi Jinping, Joe Biden, and Vladimir Putin - also pledged to work together to defeat Covid-19.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who led the conference, says she has every expectation the halt of fossil fuel subsidies will be fulfilled.
She says three out of four of the most signifcant users of fossil fuel subsidies, are in the APEC region.
