New Zealand were put on the back foot early with hooker Codie Taylor yellow carded in the 13th minute, with Irish winger James Lowe opening the scoring in the 14th.
When Taylor returned to the field he scored a try, with the All Blacks leading 10-5 at the break.
Ireland dominated the second half, with replacement back Joey Carbery scoring two crucial penalties, edging the home side ahead with just minutes to play.
New Zealand captain Sam Whitelock told Sky Sport his side gave Ireland too many opportunities in their own 22.
