The price of 91 is sitting at over two-dollars-50 in many places across the country.
The AA says companies put a margin on fuel when it lands at our ports - then GST is heaped on top.
It says company's are operating above their historic upper margin limit.
Gull Boss Dave Bodger says right now, motorists can save some money with smaller retailers.
He says there may be some price drops in the next week, but it's anyone's guess what happens in the long term.
