Small spurts with the bat and ball have done little to help the Black Caps in their hope of keeping the Twenty20 international series with India alive

Small spurts with the bat and ball have done little to help the Black Caps in their hope of keeping the Twenty20 international series with India alive

New Zealand's lost the second matchup in Ranchi by seven wickets, as India cruised to 155 with 16 balls to spare in response to the Black Caps' 153.

The visitors started strong with the bat knocking 64 for one in the first six overs, but took their foot off the pedal.

Stand-in captain Tim Southee - who took all three of New Zealand's wickets in the space of three overs - says a silver lining again is being able to take the game deep.

Opening batsman KL Rahul finished with 65.

India win the series with one game to spare.
