Witnesses have described what they say was a car crashing into a car wash in Christchurch this morning

Two ambulances and one rapid response vehicle were called to the scene near Wash HQ on Ferry Road shortly after 10.

A person was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition.

Duty manager of a nearby cafe Gina Armon says one of her workers heard a massive crash so went to see what had happened.

She says she then saw someone had appeared to have driven into the front of the car wash.

Armon says she could see people around the crash and fire and emergency were at the scene too.

Worksafe has been advised.
