Police are keeping guard, at a suspected gang pad in Christchurch that's been badly damaged by fire

Police are keeping guard, at a suspected gang pad in Christchurch that's been badly damaged by fire

Emergency services were called to the blaze, on Bowhill Road in New Brighton, early yesterday afternoon.

Strong winds fanned smoke from the blaze, with locals told to close windows and doors.

The property is understood to be connected to the Mongrel Mob.

Police say they're maintaining a prescence at the scene and asking the public to stay away.
