Firefighters are back at the scene of a bush fire in Upper Hutt
23 January 2022
The blaze in Trentham broke out yesterday about 3pm and has burnt through 14 hectares, but was brought under control late in the afternoon.
Helicopters started operations just after 6am.
Ground crews are working beside Remutaka Prison and from the top of Chatsworth Road.
Fire and Emergency says helicopters and crews are making the most of the cooler conditions to knock out the remaining hot spots and mop up the fire.
Small hot spots may continue to be visible over the next few days.
