A Wellington city councillor wants plans to borrow more money to cover a three million dollar error, scrapped

A Wellington city councillor wants plans to borrow more money to cover a three million dollar error, scrapped

An upcoming report shows Wellington Water meter users have been undercharged over the last financial year.

It was caused by a data-inputting error through a combination of systems and manual processes.

Council staff are proposing to make up the potential shortfall by borrowing more cash.

Councillor Diane Calvert says that's not the right move.

She says they should be looking for operational savings to make up the deficit instead.
