957 Covid-19-infected patients are in hospital, with 26 people in ICU.
Nine people have also died.
The Ministry of Health says the number of hospitalisations is an increase from 939 reported yesterday.
It says every hospitalisation is a reminder of the importance of getting vaccinated to prevent severe illness from Omicron.
Meanwhile, Auckland is continuing to see a steady decline in case numbers, while cases in other parts of the country fluctuate.
Case numbers generally declined over the weekend, likely linked to a lower level of testing.
