McFadden came to New Zealand from the United States in 1982 and won four national championships with Wellington.
Here he is talking about the end to the 1985 final which he secured for the Saints as he introduced the razzmatazz of the sport to the country.
McFadden retired in 1996, moving into coaching and junior development.
He's credited with the development of Steven Adams, and sat next to him when he was drafted to the NBA.
