A tough day on the Formula 2 track for New Zealand drivers Liam Lawson and Marcus Armstrong in the round three feature race in Imola

A tough day on the Formula 2 track for New Zealand drivers Liam Lawson and Marcus Armstrong in the round three feature race in Imola

Lawson crashed out of the race, prompting the safety car on lap 32.

Meanwhile Armstrong received a five second time penalty for lowering the front trolley jack prior to the rear wheels being completely fitted - pushing him back to 16th.

He released the clutch while the right rear mechanic was still working on the wheel, causing an injury.

Frenchman Theo Pourchaire won the race - his second win of the season, taking the championship lead on 52 points.

Lawson sits in fourth with Armstrong in seventh.
