A shaky wake up for those in the capital this morning following a 4.7 magnitude earthquake

Initial recording by Geonet put the quake at a depth of 28km, west of Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast.

However that has since been revised to a magnitude 4.2 - which caused "light shaking" in the region.
