    Canterbury is set to get a fresh new Countdown distribution centre


    The supermarket chain has announced plans for new 99 million dollar development in Rolleston.

    It will service stores across the South Island and transform how Countdown moves fresh produce from local growers to its customers.

    Director of Property, Matt Grainger says the new facility will also be kinder to the planet with solar power, rainwater harvesting and low energy-use condensers throughout.

    He says the distribution centre is expected to open in early 2024, recruiting a team of 55 to become fresh produce experts.
