In a world competing for limited health workers, New Zealand's Covid response might give us an edge

In a world competing for limited health workers, New Zealand's Covid response might give us an edge

It comes after years of workplace shortages, and with 50-percent of the country's GPs planning retirement in the next eight years.

But GP and Ministry of Health clinical advisor Dr Joe Bourne says he's got colleagues in the UK health sector planning a move here.

He says we can perhaps thank New Zealand's approach to Covid for this.

Dr Bourne says it would be something that would attract a workforce to coming here, because they look at how well we've done with Covid, and think it would be an attractive place to come and work in that health system.
