Doctor Bryan Betty is using his placement on the Queen's honours list to highlight diabetes

The Medical Director of the NZ College of GPs says a raft of things contribute to the disease, including lifestyle choices, genes and poverty.
He says diabetes has huge health ramifications including heart disease, strokes, kidney failures, amputations and blindness.
He says he thinks diabetes is one of the greatest health challenge we face, and wants the issue to be further spotlighted.
There are 250-thousand people living with diabetes in New Zealand.
