The Health Ministry says it will keep up surveillance of Omicron variants at the border with testing - as the BA4 and BA5 strains take hold.
Meanwhile, a Bill's been introduced which would see 850-thousand at-risk people eligible for another booster jab, six-months from their first.
Canterbury University virus modeller Professor Michael Plank says putting variants aside - immunity wanes over time.
He says a fourth dose is a good way to restore that immunity, and is much safer than becoming infected a second time and becoming seriously ill.
