A Dunedin man hit by a car as he rode his bike - accompanied by four huskies - says reckless drivers need to face stiffer sanctions

Otago Daily Times reports Larry Nichvolodov was cycling in central Dunedin last month when he was hit.

He is surprised a police report found no fault with the driver.

Nichvolodov had four of his seven huskies with him, and a bright flashing light on the front of his bicycle.

The car missed his dogs, but he's raised concerns over the collision, which he puts down to driver inattention.
