An investigation is looking into what caused a horror head-on crash south of Picton

An investigation is looking into what caused a horror head-on crash south of Picton

Up to seven people are dead after a truck and a van collided on State Highway one around 7:30 yesterday morning.

One of the dead has been confirmed as a child.

Several others were injured - one critical, one serious and one minor.

Tasman District Commander Inspector Paul Borrell says it's a reminder to motorists how things can turn fatal in the blink of an eye.

He says they'll be investigating the conditions of the road, vehicle and speaking to witnesses.
