Jacinda Ardern says there is no plan to extend the reduction in fuel taxes

Jacinda Ardern says there is no plan to extend the reduction in fuel taxes

The Government slashed fuel excise duties by 25 cents a litre in March ? but petrol prices have now risen back to the high they reached before the cut.

The PM says they're monitoring to make sure the reduction's passed on to consumers ? but still planning to phase it out within months.

It's scheduled to continue until the beginning of August - which is when the Cost of living Payment comes in.

Ardern says they thought hard about the sequencing of those two things.
