The impact of Sunday's fatal crash south of Picton is rippling across the country

Seven people were killed in a collision between a van and a truck on State Highway 1 - two others from the van have serious and critical injuries.

The Pukekohe family were returning home from a funeral in Dunedin.

Franklin Ward Councillor and Auckland Deputy Mayor Bill Cashmore says people in Pukekohe are feeling the shock.

He says they're working to give the family support and time to grieve.
