Ten people have been arrested and charges over an alleged gang-related disorder incident in Taupo last month

Police were called to the altercation in the town centre on July 5.

Police say a firearm was allegedly seen and presented, but was not used.

The group -- aged between 16 and 31 -- face charges including presenting a firearm, disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Detective Sergeant Andy Livingstone says it was a brazen act of violence that happened in a very public place.
