A push from Auckland mayoral candidate Leo Molloy to have the city contend for NRL grand final hosting rights doesn't wash with Auckland Unlimited

The NRL is threatening to pull the game from New South Wales and take it to Queensland over fears suburban stadiums may not get promised upgrades.

Molloy has called on Auckland Unlimited to "kick the door down" to host the final - and said he would happily play his part in getting it here.

Auckland Unlimited boss Nick Hill says they'd love it to Auckland...but their budget has been seriously reined in after Covid.
