    The average house price has fallen for the first time in 11 years

    The average house price has fallen for the first time in 11 years


    New figures from the Real Estate Institute show the national median property price has fallen 1.8 percent in the year to July.

    The average house is now selling for 810-thousand dollars.

    Institute Chief Executive Jen Baird says the fall is being led by a 5.6 percent drop in the median price in Auckland.

    If Auckland house sales are excluded, the median house price is still continuing to rise.
