Two young people have been arrested after a gang of teens assaulted a worker at a Palmerston North shopping centre

Shop workers say about 30 teenagers rushed into the food court and targeted one of the shops on Tuesday afternoon

Footage posted online, believed to be filmed by one of the offenders, shows the group attacking the victim, as they cheer each other on.

One person has been charged with assault, trespassing and shoplifting and the other referred to Youth Aid.

A police spokesperson says the attack is concerning.
