A political commentator thinks Sam Uffindell hasn't had any consequences for his past actions

The National Party's selection process has come under fire after relevations over Mr Uffindell's past behaviour.

Matthew Hooten says Mr Uffindell was not up front during his maiden parliament speech when he said people shouldn't be taught with impunity.

He says impunity has been good for him when he wasn't thrown into a borstal when he committed a violent crime when he was 16.
