Dairy farmers are getting a record farmgate milk price payout of $9.50 a kilo, and a 20 cent per share dividend.
Federated Farmers Dairy spokesperson, Richard McIntire, says in recent years Fonterra's made a massive effort to reconnect with farmers.
He says the benefit of farmers feeling more connected outweigh any payout.
