The successful return of veteran defender Liz Thompson has boosted the spirits of the Black Ferns after a disappointing weekend from a results perspective

The 28-year-old defender overcame a ruptured ACL to make her 200th appearance during Saturday's shootout loss to the US.

Thompson missed last year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham....but coach Phil Burrows says she did well on her return.

The Black Sticks go again next weekend with rematches against the US and China in Wellington.
