Former world number one triathlete Andrea Hansen, nee Hewitt, is retiring from the sport

Hansen burst onto the scene in 2005 winning the under-23 world cup just seven months after taking up the sport.

She then went on to represent New Zealand at three Olympics and four Commonwealth Games, including a bronze at the latter in Melbourne in 2006.

Hansen also won a bronze in the mixed relay event at the Gold Coast Games in 2018.

She now plans to focus on her family.
