Two men are set to appear in court today, after Police in Hamilton East were shot at early yesterday morning

Officers responded to a report of an attempted vehicle theft just after midnight -- and ended up spiking a car of interest.

But, it continued driving -- and as it did, two rounds hit the officers' car, creating minor damage.

The vehicle and shotgun were found a short time later.

Two men, aged 18 and 33, are facing charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop, using a firearm against law enforcement and unlawful possession of a firearm.

They're due to appear in Hamilton District Court today.
