Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown is determined to avoid a worse budget hole, than when he became Mayor

Auckland Council's projected deficit has soared to 325-million-dollars, plus an extra 50-million earmarked for storm damage..

Brown says they have to be careful they don't aggravate the situation.

He says they can't use debt, and just using rates is tough on everyone.
