A few tweaks won't cut the mustard, when it comes to fixing New Zealand's local government system

A major review by the Future for Local Government Review is suggesting transferable votes, a voting age of 16 - and four year terms.
Local Government New Zealand President Stuart Crosby says this is the biggest look at the system in 34 years - and is well overdue.
He says our councils aren't fit for purpose and a few small changes won't be enough to alleviate their challenges - which are now playing out in communities.
