Despite only ever testing a NASCAR once before, the two-time Bathurst winner roared to third in qualifying for tomorrow's 100-lap street race.
Scott Dixon is the best performing Kiwi in qualifying for IndyCar's Mid-Ohio round.
The six-time IndyCar champ is sixth on the grid, in the third row just ahead of Scott McLaughlin in eighth.
Marcus Armstrong heads the rookies, qualifying 18th.
And Max Verstappen was first with daylight second in the Formula One Austrian grand prix sprint race...taking the chequered flag in the 100km standalone race by a whopping 21 seconds.
