Concern is mounting for two off-road motorcyclists, who have gone missing in 15-thousand hectares in remote Upper Hutt bush

Search and rescue crews are scouring the Akatarawa Forest, after their vehicles were found at the forest entrance.

A rescue helicopter was at the scene earlier this morning.

In March this year, two motorcyclists were rescued near the Devil's Staircase in the Akatarawa Forest.

The pair had to build a makeshift shelter out of trees, after one of the men was injured and unable to walk.
