    A slow start for Kiwi driver Hayden Paddon in the penultimate European Rally Championship event in the Czech Republic


    Paddon and co-driver John Kennard are ninth after the opening special stage, with Austrian Simon Wagner leading.

    There was just one stage on the first day, with two more days of racing to come.

    Paddon's leading the overall competition and bidding to become the first non-European to win it in 70 years.
