They say you sing when you're winning - and tennis world number one Carlos Alcaraz has done just that after his round one victory at the US Open

The Spaniard was a set and 3-2 up when German opponent Dominik Koepfer was forced to retire with an ankle injury.

Alcaraz is a big fan of Colombian singer Sebastian Yatra - who was in attendance - and was happy to belt out a few lines, on TVNZ Duke.

Retirement-bound John Isner has advanced to the second round in straight sets - as has sixth seed Jannick Sinner and three-time grand slam champion Stan Wawrinka .

Not such a happy night for seven-time major winner Venus Williams - the 43-year-old has potentially played her last US Open match after suffering a 6-1 6-1 loss to Belgian Greet Minnen.
