An Auckland councillor says submissions made on Auckland Council's plan to establish Maori Wards are only a small representation of the city

Auckland Council told Newshub most of the almost 10-thousand made opposed Maori seats.

Manukau Ward Councillor, Alf Filipaina says with about 1.6 million people living in the city, that's only a small portion of the population.

He says it's not a true reflection on the view for the whole of Tamaki Makaurau.
