A Wellington man swept up in a failed murder plot has been given community detention

Bo-Dean Tua got a ride home from Kapiti to Wellington with friends - the car stopped in Porirua, and an associate got out and shot a man.

Tua stayed in the car during the attempted murder.

He has been sentenced at the High Court in Wellington today.

Tua helped the group dispose of the car involved, which Police have not recovered.

He's been convicted of being an accessory after the fact to attempted murder.
